Bringing Brisbane to Byron: Our 2021 Byron Bay Roadshow

Bringing Brisbane to Byron: Our 2021 Byron Bay Roadshow

Brisbane’s ‘Fortitude Valley’ is known for being a bustling design district – where you will find the best that Brisbane has to offer in fashion, food and furniture.

Our Cosh Living Brisbane showroom is located at 130 Arthur Street, alongside many wonderful showrooms. It’s an incredible destination for both trade and retail clients - anyone building, renovating or planning to refresh the look of a home. Wandering down Arthur Street allows you to browse furniture, rug specialists, fabric houses, tile showrooms and more – all in one place.

This May, we teamed up with our friends - and Arthur Street neighbours - Earp Bros and The Flooring Co, to take the Fortitude Valley experience on the road.

Getting together in the backyard & beautiful scenes of the Bay nearby.

The destination chosen for this trip was Byron Bay. Byron Bay and its surrounding towns are home to an amazing array of interior designers, architects and creatives, that cannot always make it to Brisbane to get inspiration and source for each individual project.

The location chosen for this experience was The Barefoot Escapes Villa by The Designory. A beautiful villa in central Byron Bay, this home exuded warmth, welcome and interior design excellence. It was also already featuring stunning Earp Bros tiles and Cosh Living furniture, which is always a bonus!

A truly luxurious place to set up a showroom! Flatlay experiences were scattered throughout the home.

The Villa was then set up to house a showroom-like experience. Each brand brought a range of exciting current and upcoming collections, placing them throughout the layered interior and tropical, sunny backyard. With sessions set across multiple days, visitors to the roadshow wandered through the home, were able to have one-on-one consults with the staff from Earp, The Flooring Co and Cosh Living. With drinks flowing, delicious food and music drifting through the space – the villa was abuzz as the sunny afternoon turned into a warm evening.

Discover some of the key collections that joined us on the roadshow below.

MBRACE Wing Chair by DEDON

On the road with us to Byron Bay was the MBRACE Wing Chair by DEDON. DEDON are renowned for their playful and durable outdoor furniture, and this piece is no exception. With quilted cushioning and a teak base - this chair is the perfect comfortable and stylish addition to any outdoor setting.

Sitting by the wing chair was the MBRACE side table. Teak outdoor furniture is a popular option in Australia, as it will turn silver-grey over time, and sit in harmony with muted tones of the Eucalypts in the surrounding landscape. We also commonly opt for muted tones in our building materials too!

Johanna Occasional Chair & Otway Coffee Table by Kett

A true Cosh Living customer favourite - we had to bring along the Johanna tub chair. Designed by Justin Hutchinson for Kett, this beautiful piece is proudly designed and made in Melbourne. This particular one was upholstered in a soft Belgian linen, with piping in leather that highlights the sumptuous curves of the piece.

The side table that sat beside is also designed by Justin Hutchinson, the Otway coffee table. In this 70cm size, it is perfect as side table for a feature chair, large enough to fit flowers and a range of items to be at an arms reach. Seen here in the exhibition (charcoal) stained oak base and ceramic non-porous top.

2021 Fabric & Leather Collections

At Cosh Living, we are always searching for the best in new fabric and leather, from trusted Australian textile houses and beyond. The design studio at Kett has four core schemes Mountain, City, Desert and Ocean. These schemes are colour palettes that assist our clients in putting together a material scheme that is cohesive, and inspired by the Australian landscape.

Each year, we revisit our four schemes, and refresh the offering. We brought a sneak peek of these schemes to the Roadshow, allowing our designers to have the first look at what we are loving, and what will form the base of our showroom displays in 2021.

Monsieur Tricot Lanterns by Tribu

Some outdoor furniture & accessories need to be experienced in person to get the full effect, and the Monsieur Tricot outdoor lighting collection is one of those examples. Beautifully intricate, these lanterns are hand-knitted and crocheted, and the handiwork is quite breathtaking. We knew this would be an amazing addition to the roadshow, to show the designers the detail in person, that can be taken for granted on screen. To pick up the lanterns, and see the hours involved in creating just one lamp - our respect for the makers of these pieces soars.

THE OTHERS Lanterns by DEDON

Similarly to the Monsieur Tricot lanterns, we brought outdoor lighting collection THE OTHERS to Byron. Textured, graphic, portable and able to be left out in the rain, these colourful lanterns looked great no matter where we placed them.

A great range of Earp Bros tiles were on display in this beautiful luxurious home. One of our favourites were the 'Tanzania Silver' timber-look tiles that lined the pool. Made from porcelain, they provide natural look with the durability to match.

Adding texture to the entry of this vila was the Edelgrund rug from The Flooring Co. Edelgrund's Alasht Collection is weaved in the homes of the beautiful people of Alasht, a village on the north side of Iran in the mountainous Mazandaran province. Edelgrund utilises this aged technique of weaving with a twist, using hand-spun yarn with natural dyes to create a dense high quality fabric that can be used as floor coverings.
