In uncertain times, the comfort of home is more important than ever. While under lockdown, social isolation and travel restrictions, most of us have been seeing a lot more of our own spaces. Having a home to call our own is both a pleasure and a privilege, and taking time to reflect how it affects us is essential.
Furnishing our outdoor spaces with care is a way to nurture ourselves and our loved ones. Designing outdoor furniture to support and enhance our lives is at the very core of Belgian brand Tribú. While spending more time in recent months gazing over their gardens, the family at the helm of Tribú have invited us to share a glimpse of their homes, and the beautiful outdoor setting combinations that they have chosen to retreat to.
Lode & Rina's Garden
Sophistication and ease is found in the garden of Lode and Rina. Lode is the founding father of Tribù, and his wife Rina, responsible for the styling. It comes as no surprise that their outdoor areas reflect emerging design trends (that they are helping to create and drive) as well as classic comfort.
The centrepiece of their living area features the Pure sofa in teak with Rina’s selection of blush decorative cushions. Anchored with an outdoor rug, they have added a Nomad pouf, Drops side table and Elio easy chair for flexibility.
The Pure sofa has been in the Tribù collection for 20 years and looks as contemporary as when Lode first introduced it. It was the first outdoor sofa to bring the interior look and feel outside, tempting us to spend more time in our gardens.
“We think we are nurturing our garden, but in fact our garden is nurturing us. It gives us inspiration, energy and so much happiness.” - Lode.
Dogs Ginger and Cooper accompany them for long lunches in the outdoors. A white Illum dining table and Contour armchairs set the scene.
Koen's Garden
Before the day gets too busy, eldest brother Koen and Tribù’s CEO, finds time for a quiet coffee in his garden.
“I love to get up early in the morning and see the sun rise and my garden awaken, hear the sound of the birds and enjoy a fresh cup of home brewed coffee on my terrace.”

Although, it's not all quiet moments for Koen. His wife Christine and their daughters Bo and Liv eat together outside whenever they can, gathering around a dining table and sharing a meal and plenty of laughter.
Koen and Christine furnished their backyard with the Nox table with wengé frame and lava stone top in Ocean, paired with Illum armchairs.
“The Nox table is equally suitable for use indoors as it is outdoors. In fact we have another Nox table in the living room. Before Covid-19, we enjoyed having friends around the table, cooking and talking together and enjoying a home-made meal with a good bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.” – Koen.
Tom's Garden
Managing partner at Tribù, Tom, and interior designer Elena share a love for fine design. They both make the most of their home and garden, inviting friends over for al fresco dining and music. The terraces create different spaces in the garden to enjoy this to the utmost.
Lots of memories have been made around this table, memories that in these times are even more precious. Seen here are the Vis-a-Vis dining table and Mood armchairs.
Enjoying a glass of wine is Tom’s ideal way to unwind after a demanding day. Tom and Elena’s Senja sofa, set around a Branch low table with teak top, gives them a cosy space to talk or just take in the peaceful view.
“Enjoying the simple moments in life is important to me. Capturing the last sunshine of the day in my garden is one of the moments I love,” - Tom.
Behind the lens for this family photoshoot was Roel, younger brother to Koen and Tom.
