High-Quality Outdoor Fabrics by Sunbrella

Fabric design matters. Without great design, the spaces in our homes lack meaning and inspiration. The perfect combination of colour, texture and pattern will not only add beauty, but has the power to invigorate and rejuvenate. Living with great design and creating a beautiful custom outdoor setting is what Sunbrella® outdoor fabrics are all about. Fabulous collections with unparalleled performance that are both stunning enough for a formal piece of furniture and durable enough for the daybed you sink into after a nice refreshing dip in the swimming pool.

Sunbrella is founded on the belief that fabrics should be both beautiful and functional. They began in the 1960’s with the challenge of creating an awning canvas with a significantly longer lifespan than cotton. Sunbrella has become world-renowned for shade structures, marine canvas and upholstery fabric for both outdoor and indoor applications.

The textiles are made with close attention to detail and engineered with robust performance characteristics that provide superior resistance to fading and degradation from sunlight and chemical exposure. The fabric is tactile yet durable, has industry-leading environmental characteristics, is easy to maintain and offers a long life outdoors – wherever it’s used. Sunbrella is committed to producing the most exceptional performance outdoor fabric you can buy.

DESIGN & MANUFACTURING

Sunbrella fabrics are manufactured in facilities around the globe. The main manufacturing location is a one million square foot facility in South Carolina, USA. This facility established the blueprint for the other plants in Lille, France and Suzhou, China, manufacturing locations that enable Sunbrella to best serve customers in those regions. Sunbrella is always manufactured to the same standards and delivered anywhere in the world.

Their research and development department are continually pushing the envelope for what is possible with Sunbrella textiles. They are continually developing, improving and refining the durability characteristics.

The Sunbrella design team brings diverse industry experience and is actively involved in stock line design, collaborative collections and custom line development. They operate in the United States and Europe, but also travel extensively to gather information on trends and colour forecasts. By sharing this knowledge with the manufacturing facilities, Sunbrella is able to bring to market the latest in home décor, shade innovation and marine-grade styling.

HOW TO CLEAN

One of the best ways to keep outdoor cushions and Sunbrella fabrics looking good is to brush off any dirt, debris and foliage before it becomes embedded in the fabrics. It is also important to wipe up spills and clean soon after a stain occurs - The quicker you clean, the easier they can be to remove.

For easy day-to-day maintenance of your Sunbrella outdoor fabric:

  • Brush off loose dirt.
  • Spray on a cleaning solution of water and mild soap.
  • Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
  • Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air dry.

Cleaning Removable Cushion Covers

Hand Washing

Soak fabric in a solution of one-fourth cup mild soap per 4 litres of lukewarm water. Use a sponge or very soft bristle brush to lightly agitate the stain. Then rinse the material thoroughly to remove all soap, and allow fabric to air dry.

Machine washing

Some removable covers can be washed in the washing machine, however, please consult your furniture manufacturer before removing the casing as outdoor cushion construction can vary.

To machine wash, be sure to close all of the zippers. Machine wash in cold water on the delicate cycle with normal amounts of mild laundry detergent. For severe mold or mildew, add 1 cup of bleach. Allow fabric to air dry.

Putting cushion covers back onto the foam inserts can be quite difficult when you are not experienced. It is easiest to put them back on while they are slightly damp.

Cleaning Non-Removable Cushion Covers

Prepare a solution of one-fourth cup mild soap per 4 litres of lukewarm water. Use a soft bristle brush to clean the stain, allowing the cleaning solution to soak into the fabric. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue and allow fabric to air dry.

Mold and mildew stains:

Sunbrella fabrics do not promote mildew growth. However, if cushions are not maintained properly, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are left sitting on the fabric.

To remove mold or mildew:

Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and one-fourth cup mild soap per 4 litres of water. Spray on the entire cushion cover and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes. Clean the entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.

Air dry.

For severe mold/mildew growth, bleach quantities may be increased.

It is best to clean the entire surface area of the fabric to avoid water rings and stains.
