In Geelong’s evolving design landscape, our new showroom has quickly become a place for ideas to take shape. It was here that local interior designer Amelda Wilde explored the latest collections, selecting pieces for her own home, a 1930s Californian-style bungalow she has been refining for over a decade.

With an eye for furniture and objects full of character, Amelda Wilde creates spaces that balance sophistication and playfulness. The entrance is dark and moody, with period-appropriate finishes that lend a cosy, enveloping feel, part heritage, part theatrical. This atmosphere carries into the original living room, drawing you toward a large, sculpted archway at its far end.
In the original living space, the Sen Cabinet from Potocco stands with quiet confidence while The Johanna Occasional Chair by Kett adds a sculptural softness to the room, encouraging pause before moving further inside.
The Portland dining table and chairs are framed perfectly by the archway, anchoring the renovated dining space. It’s a composition of warm timber, curved forms, and bold upholstery that sets the tone for the contemporary space beyond.

Moving through the home the mood lifts. The new extension opens into a space defined by high ceilings, walls that float short of the roofline, sweeping curtains, and a stainless-steel kitchen.
Designed by Justin Hutchinson for Kett Portland Arc Dining Table is Crafted from solid American oak and finished in a light walnut stain, its curved solid legs and rounded edges recall the natural shelter of Victoria’s coastal bays while the table’s surface reveals the timber’s natural grain, reinforcing the connection to honest, enduring materials. The Portland is a testament to local makers using master techniques that create solid curved timber legs. It’s durable yet refined and its finish protects without compromising beauty, making it well suited to everyday life, especially with those that have families.

Amelda paired the table with Portland Dining Chairs upholstered in two distinct velvets from Catherine Martin’s Mokum Bespoke collection: the bold, saturated red of Pimento and the muted depth of Bronze. The combination introduces confident colour within a restrained palette, showing how the Portland collection adapts easily to different design expressions.
The Second living space with sits adjacent to the Steel kitchen has The Double L Glaze coffee table form Potocco makes an appearance. Its honey-toned glass adds a subtle radiance, harmonising with Amelda’s golden sofa and enriching the room’s layered texture.

The Johanna Occasional Chair by Kett, upholstered in Mokum’s Bespoke Dahlia velvet, adds a low, curvaceous profile and tactile richness. The tassels are an addition from Amelda sourced form Sullivans that gives the Johanna such a personal look. Seeing the Johanna being transformed again, especially with such a simple addition showcase Amelda’s strength in creativity.

Back to the original formal living space, the Sen Cabinet from Potocco in Cherry red provides a decisive focal point. Its Japanese-inspired frame and bronzed glass doors bring structure without heaviness, while the colour punctuates the otherwise muted setting. It’s a strong contrast to the deep moody forest green walls, creating a purposeful contemporary look while maintaining a sense of elegance.
Lastly, the Otway Bedside Table in Light walnut effortlessly takes shape in the main bedroom, with Amela’s own lamp and finishings. This display showcases how well this timeless Australian piece works in both traditional and contemporary contexts, feeling perfectly at home in a bedroom layered with material and tonal diversity.
Amelda’s choices demonstrate the adaptability if these indoor pieces from Kett & Potocco. Her use of bold upholstery and contrasting materials positions the furniture in a different context, one that aligns with her approach to creating interiors with atmosphere and depth.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to thoughtful design and craftsmanship, allowing each piece to become part of a unique story.
