Matchbox House
HEPBURN SPRINGS, Victoria
Photographer: Anthony Richardson
Builder: Jarvis Builds
Styling: Cosh Living
Nestled in Victoria's spa country, Matchbox House is a study in restraint done beautifully. Compact by design, considered in every detail, and styled throughout with Cosh Living pieces, this project captures what it means to live a life connected to nature.
Within this striking contemporary retreat, Cosh Living had the opportunity to place Kett's collections alongside select Potocco pieces. The result demonstrates how local and European design languages can sit seamlessly together, within an architecture that is at once rugged and refined, deeply connected to its landscape, and all the more beautiful for it.
Designed for the Land It Stands On
Matchbox House was built to endure. Weathered timber cladding meets BAL-FZ bushfire-rated construction, charring under heat to protect the structure beneath. Inside, burnished concrete, silver travertine, and locally sourced spotted gum echo the landscape beyond the glass, tied together with brass detailing that brings quiet luxury to every corner.
The Outside, Reflected In
The Erskine Sofa and Erskine Coffee Table by Kett anchor the living room, Raptor Turtle and deep timber stain echo the muted greens and shadows of the gum trees beyond the glass. The Johanna Occasional Chair in burnt orange adds a warm accent, its curved form and rich Alpaca Velvet a counterpoint to the cool concrete and dark timber. Potocco's Graphic Coffee Table and Sen Sideboard continue the thread, their warm tones and considered finishes mirroring the earthy palette of bark, stone, and dry scrub that frames every window.

Erskine Modular Sofa
See Product InformationThe dramatic sweep of the Erskine sofa’s arms reference natural curvilinear forms, whilst a French seam rises up and continues along a ‘ridge’ and back down the other side. The Erskine offers understated elegance as a meeting place for family and friends.
-
Erskine Coffee Table
See Product InformationThe Erskine coffee table’s soft lines are in conversation with those of the Erskine sofa, two solid timber planes held in tension. Refined rounded legs confidently counter the gentle curve, intersecting the two surfaces. The planes elevate objects from the floor and provide a locale for books, objects and plants.

Graphic Coffee Tables
See Product InformationThe slender, geometric structure of the Graphic collection seamlessly combines form and function across a family of tables, a bench, a writing desk and complementary coffee tables. Available with tops in solid ash wood, the collection's understated simplicity allows each piece to pair effortlessly with Potocco's seating families.

Sen Sideboard
See Product InformationThe Sen storage collection includes a sideboard and cabinet, inspired by the design of the traditional Japanese doors in rice paper. The design of the ash frame is toned down thanks to the visual lightness created by the crossed grilles attached two sliding doors in bronzed glass or extra-clear glass.
Iconic Kett Designs
The dining space showcases some of Kett's most celebrated work. At the centre, the Johanna Elliptical Timber Table commands the room, its solid timber construction ageing in step with the spotted gum and bush surrounds. The Otway Armchair in Oliva leather completes the setting, its deep green tone drawing the bush palette directly into the room.

Otway Armchair
See Product InformationThe Otway Armchair features a distinct curvilinear form that complements the human body. Its smooth, rounded legs create an intersection that cradles the seat, presenting an elegant yet structurally sound design.
The bedroom shifts warmer and softer, but the commitment to quality remains. The Erskine Bed sits low and wide, its textural woven headboard responding to the concrete floor and the abstract canvas by Michael Wolfe above. The Otway Night Tables flank with characteristic understatement, while the Karm Lounge Chair beside the window becomes the quiet hero of the room, a place to sit with the bush directly in frame and nowhere to be.

Made for the Australian Landscape
There is something about Kett's outdoor furniture that feels at home in Australian landscapes. At Hepburn Springs, surrounded by gum trees and open sky, the pieces don't perform, they settle. The timber grain, the concrete references, the muted palette of deep greens paired against warm ochre, and terracotta tones, all of it belongs here. At Matchbox House, the furniture doesn't just fill the space, it belongs to it.
