Armytage House is one of Geelong’s notable heritage residences, originally built for the Armytage family in the late 19th century. Renowned for its cast-iron lacework, deep verandas, and formal garden structure, the home embodies the Victorian ideals of proportion, restraint, and craftsmanship.

Within this historic setting, we had the opportunity to showcase Kett’s newest outdoor collections alongside select European pieces, demonstrating how timeless Australian design can harmoniously coexist with both international influences and a beautifully preserved heritage environment.

Contemporary Design Within a Heritage Context

Kett’s Addis Bay collection was placed across the terrace, illustrating how modern outdoor forms can complement rather than compete with a heritage backdrop. The collection’s refined geometry, generous profiles and textured fabrics create a contemporary outdoor living environment that still respects the architectural rhythm of the home.

Material Harmony

Kett's newest Ochre powder-coat finish provided a material link between the furniture and the existing architecture. Its warm, matte tonality sits quietly against the sandstone façade and surrounding garden, anchoring the pieces in place without imposing on the heritage character.

Integrating Earlier Kett Designs

Earlier Kett designs including the Addis tables and Wye Side Chairs were integrated to demonstrate the continuity of the brand’s design language. Although developed at different times, the pieces share a cohesive approach to proportion, texture and materiality, reinforcing the idea that outdoor spaces can evolve gradually without compromising visual unity.

European Design in an Australian Landscape

By the pool, the setting transitions to a lighter, more relaxed atmosphere, enhanced by European pieces chosen for their clarity and craftsmanship. The Mood Daybed by Tribu combines tactile woven textures with soft curves, creating a casual spot for lounging. Meanwhile, the Satellite Side Table by Dedon offers a sculptural, minimalist design that balances functionality with organic form. These selections demonstrate how international design influences can be thoughtfully integrated into an Australian landscape, as long as materiality and scale are carefully considered in relation to the environment.

Wye Chair (Outdoor)
Inspired by the Wye river, carving a line through the land to the sea. The Wye dining chairs are defined by flowing lines and concise intersections, providing outdoor seating for a range of occasions. Made from powder coated stainless steel rod frame. Optional cushions are upholstered locally in a fabric of your choice.

Addis Ceramic Table
The Addis outdoor table with a ceramic top is a durable, all-weather dining table. The ceramic top boasts a luxurious stone look, but is an easy care non-porous material. Available in both a regular and slim width table. Slim width of 70cm is great for balconies and other narrow areas, where space is a premium.

Mood Daybed
The generous Mood daybed offers room for two to snooze away in the sun, surrounded by a bunch of comfy outdoor cushions. The airy design has a warm combination of teak and handwoven Tricord that will immediately create an intimate and natural atmosphere on your patio. Available in Linen or Wenge, the Tricord yarn consists of polyolefin and is weather-resistant but has a very natural look and feel.
