Set amongst an amazing Australian bush landscape in Sydney’s north, sits a celebrated home designed by Polly Harbison.

This project saw Polly rework a dark, post-war house, and transform it into a modern, light filled home for the family to enjoy together. The design beautifully incorporates the landscape that surrounds it, and creates spaces that flow seamlessly from indoor to outdoor.

In one of these transitional spaces, a dramatic concrete arch frames the treetops, and creates a dynamic, contemporary outdoor space. The Pure outdoor sofa, designed by Andrei Munteanu for Tribu sits pride of place. Utilising a modular sofa style, individual units with arms on one side of the sofa only – keeps the layout feeling open and light – while providing flexibility for entertaining and relaxing alike.

The teak frame on the Pure sofa references the natural landscape beyond it, the soft grey outdoor upholstery adding softness and comfort. The low outdoor coffee table, also from the Pure collection, features a ceramic insert, which unlike natural non-porous and easy to maintain.

This beautiful project has recently been shortlisted in the 2020 NSW Architecture Awards for Residential Architecture: Alterations and Additions & the 2020 Houses Awards for Alterations and Additions.
