Set against the backdrop of the Queensland coast, Kugeki House celebrates the essence of contemporary Australian living. The residence balances raw architectural elements with refined interior selections, creating a seamless flow between indoors and out. With views stretching to the ocean, the home has been designed as both sanctuary and entertainer’s haven, a place where material honesty and curated furniture choices elevate daily life.

Architecture & Atmosphere

Concrete, timber, and glass define the building’s structure, grounding the home in its landscape while inviting light and breezes throughout. Overhangs and courtyards add depth and rhythm to the home’s strong architectural lines, while deep verandahs and sliding doors blur the threshold between indoors and outdoors.

Interior Warmth

Inside, the interiors embrace a restrained palette of stone, timber, and soft textiles. Spaces are layered with warmth and texture, from the stone-clad kitchen island that anchors the open-plan living area, to the timber-lined ceilings that add intimacy. Large expanses of glazing frame views to lush greenery and the sea, filling the home with a golden coastal light.

Furniture & Detailing

Every space in Kugeki House feels considered. Furniture chosen echo's the architecture’s balance of strength and softness. In the dining room, sculptural timber seating softens the stone and concrete palette, while at the kitchen island, slimline Wye barstools bring a sense of lightness against the weight of the bench.

The bedroom continues this dialogue, anchored by the generous upholstered Erskine bed, whose gentle curves echo the home’s organic gestures. As day turns to evening, handwoven Monsieur Tricot lighting casts a soft interplay of shadows across the private terrace. The Dala daybed invites quiet relaxation, enriching the home’s layered textures and extending its atmosphere well into the night.
