Set along the edge of the Burraneer Bay cliffs in South Sydney, this family home offers a moodier, more nuanced interpretation of coastal life. Collaborating with Studio AEM and featuring carefully curated pieces from Kett Furniture, we were proud to contribute to a space that reflects both quiet sophistication and a deep sense of place.

Sculptural Simplicity Meets Shoreline Views

Drenched in natural light and anchored by sweeping bay views, the home’s reimagined interior flows effortlessly from one space to the next. Timber-lined rooms open to courtyards and living areas expand to embrace the outdoors, balancing the openness of coastal living with the comfort of a family home. Carefully selected furnishings enhance this sense of balance, with organic forms and natural materials echoing the tonal palette of sea, sky and stone.

A Sculptural Dining Space Rooted in Nature

At the heart of the dining space, the Otway Table offers a sculptural centrepiece. Inspired by the forests of Cape Otway, its soft timber profile and gentle curves speak to quiet craftsmanship and enduring design. Paired with the Karm Dining Chairs the setting is an exercise in considered simplicity. The Karm’s sculptural silhouette and curved backrest offer comfort and elegance, reflecting the home’s wider design ethos: tactile, understated, deeply liveable.

This is a home that reflects a uniquely Australian way of life: relaxed but refined, responsive to the elements, and designed for family connection and calm. The Burraneer Bay project reminds us that beauty by the sea can be quiet, textural and timeless.

Otway Solid Dining Table
Inspired by time spent exploring the understory of the giant forests of Cape Otway, the Otway Table is defined by its soft timber profile and elegant proportions. Its timeless and enduring quality is the result of simplified complexity. Optional silky porcelain tops are non-porous, making them easy to clean and fuss-free.

Karm Chair
The Karm dining chair is a beautiful design piece that brings together Scandinavian aesthetic and Italian tradition. With a striking silhouette, the Karm's curved backrest is deceptively comfortable and a contemporary take on the bentwood chair. With the Karm, you can select a completely timber chair, or have the seat upholstered in a fabric or leather of your choice.
