Set within the coastal bushland of the Margaret River Wine Region, Cala Residence is an off-grid rural retreat designed in close response to its landscape.
Gentle changes in floor level follow the natural contours of the site, helping to define spaces throughout the home while maintaining a continuous connection to the surrounding environment. The residence wraps around an oversized north-facing internal courtyard, allowing each space to look out towards the landscape and draw in natural light.
Living Outdoors
At the centre of Cala Residence, the internal courtyard creates a natural gathering place, connecting the surrounding living spaces with the landscape. Kett’s Wye Dining Chairs bring a refined, lightweight presence to the generous outdoor setting, their slender frames sitting quietly against the stone, timber and layered native planting.

A Place to Pause
Positioned against the stone wall beside the main courtyard dining setting, the Tribù Senja Sofa in a two-seater configuration creates a more intimate place to sit and take in the garden. Its soft, generous form provides a subtle contrast to the clean lines of the dining setting, while the neutral upholstery sits naturally within the home’s restrained material palette.
Immersed in the Landscape
Moving beyond the central courtyard, a more relaxed outdoor setting looks directly into the surrounding bushland. The Tribù Senja Sofa, Nodi Easy Chairs, Tosca Coffee Table and Drop Side Table create an inviting place to sit, unwind and take in the landscape. Soft upholstery, woven textures and understated forms complement the natural palette of the architecture, creating a seamless transition between the sheltered terrace and the coastal bush beyond.
